Basic Coastal Cruising-April 25, 27, 28

Class Description

When booking this class, please note attendance is required on the following dates. If you cannot attend all three classes, please choose a different weekend to begin. Thu. April 25 - 6:30 - 9:30 pm Sat. April 27 - 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Sun. April 28 - 9:00 am - 3:00 pm This course introduces sailors to the additional skills required to skipper a larger sailboat on Lake Ray Hubbard and protected coastal waters. After a classroom seminar, two days will be spent aboard a medium size, live aboard cruising boat. Topics Include: Sail shape and trim Person overboard drills Close quarters powering Distress signals Sail changes, including reefing Emergency procedures Introduction to coastal navigation Short-handed cruising techniques Large boat dockings, moorings and anchoring Inboard engines Prerequisite: ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Certification
