Class Description

When booking this class, please note attendance is required on the following dates. If you cannot attend all three classes, please choose a different weekend to begin. Thu. March 21 - 6:30 - 9:30 pm Sat. March 23 - 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Sun. March 24 - 9:00 am - 12:00 pm This 12-hour course gives a novice a solid foundation in the basics of sailing. NO PRIOR SAILING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED! After a 3-hour classroom session, you will spend 9 hours on the water in our J-22's using small, cruising and training sails. The price of the course includes the ASA “Sailing Made Easy” textbook, lunch and refreshments. (Maximum of 3 students per instructor). Topics Include: Sailing theory Tacks & points of sail Rigging and unrigging the boat Coming about & jibing Use of outboard motors Basic knots Skipper and crew responsibilities The next step in learning to sail is our Beginner 2 class which will earn you the ASA 101 Basic Keelboat certification.
