Class Description
When booking this class, please note attendance is required on the following dates. If you cannot attend all three classes, please choose a different weekend to begin. Thu. February 26 - 7:00 - 9:30 pm Sat. March 1 - 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Sun. March 2 - 9:00 am - 2:30 pm This course introduces sailors to the additional skills required to skipper a larger sailboat on Lake Ray Hubbard and protected coastal waters. After a classroom seminar, two days will be spent aboard a medium size, live aboard cruising boat. Topics Include: Sail shape and trim Person overboard drills Close quarters powering Distress signals Sail changes, including reefing Emergency procedures Introduction to coastal navigation Short-handed cruising techniques Large boat dockings, moorings and anchoring Inboard engines Prerequisite: ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Certification
