Class Description

Contact us to Book This class will be sailed in the British Virgin Islands for students intending to earn the ASA 106 advanced coastal cruising certification. ASA 101, 103, 104, and 105 certifications are pre-requisites to earning ASA 106 certification. While no classroom session will be necessary, we will meet as a group prior to the trip to review plans. The written examination can be taken by appointment after returning home. Charter boats are equipped with linens & pillows, galley ware, all sailing gear, navigation charts & instruments, GPS, autopilot, dinghy & motor, fuel & initial water. We will need to provision the boat with consumables, including drinking water. Those staying aboard will share the cost of provisioning each yacht equally, including establishing a petty cash system for miscellaneous expense. Our sailing itinerary tentatively includes a trip to Anegada Island. Other potential destinations include Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay, Norman and/or Peter Island. Students will have the opportunity to practice navigation skills, sailing skills, and enjoy island hospitality aboard and ashore. Travel arrangements to Tortola can be made direct via San Juan PR and Beef Island Tortola, or through St. Thomas USVI, with a marine ferry connection to Tortola. Travel costs vary with timing, and are not included in the price of the class. Passports are necessary, and we will be filling out customs documents along the way. Due to the specialized nature of this class, registration can be done via phone or email rather than online.
